The Wonder Dress
This is a conceptual collection/look that Grace created during her final semester at Parsons. She was inspired by music and our emotional, biological connection to it.
She took screenshots of the “iTunes Visualizer” (above) as well as chunks from equalizer bars, and manipulated them on the body.
The chosen color palette was based off the psychology of color, starting with deeper reds and black then moving into uplifting yellows and pinks.
Grace took one of the looks from the sketches above and began to drape and construct the main dress. She used paper at first, then a mix of brocade, cotton, and organza.
The final product: 89 piece dress with a removable flounce, atop a 20 piece princess line underdress with boned bodice.
